Terms

The terms, in language you can actually read.

What the published fees cover and what they do not, what on this site counts as advice, where a chartered accountant stops and a lawyer starts, and what we are responsible for.

01What this site is

booksncounts.com describes the services Books & Counts offers and what they cost. Using it means you accept what is written here.

Nothing on this site creates a professional relationship between us. That begins when we have both signed an engagement letter setting out the specific work, and not before.

02The information here is general

Everything on this site, the guides especially, is written to be accurate and general. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice for your situation, because we do not know your situation until you tell us.

Tax law changes, and it changes retroactively more often than anyone would like. A page written in one filing year can be wrong in the next. Talk to us, or to another qualified adviser, before you act on anything here.

Where we cite a form, a threshold or a penalty, we cite the figure in force when the page was written and link to the primary source so you can check it against the current one.

03Prices

The fees published on this site are our professional fees, and they are what we charge unless the scope of your work differs from what the plan describes.

Government charges are separate. State filing fees, franchise taxes and expedited processing are set by the state, billed to you at cost with no markup, and shown to you before you commit.

A price described as starting from, or as quoted, is exactly that. We confirm the figure in writing before any work starts, and we re-quote before doing extra work rather than after.

04What we do not do

We are chartered accountants. We are not a law firm and we do not practise U.S. law. Where a matter genuinely needs a licensed U.S. attorney we say so and coordinate with one.

We do not guarantee an outcome that a government controls. We cannot promise an EIN by a given date, because the IRS issues it, and we will not tell you otherwise to win the work.

05Your side

The filings we prepare are only as accurate as the information behind them. You are responsible for giving us complete and truthful records, and for telling us when something changes.

Deadlines are the reason this practice exists. If you send us what we ask for late, we will still do the work, but we cannot always undo a penalty that a late start caused.

06Liability

We take responsibility for our own work. Where we are liable for a loss caused by our negligence, that liability is limited to the fees you paid us for the specific engagement the loss arose from.

Nothing here limits liability that the law does not permit us to limit, including for fraud.

07Governing law, and how to reach us

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan have jurisdiction. This does not remove any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
